Thank you for wanting to learn a little more about me.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Dewald Pretorius.
Originally from South Africa (with a name like that, where else), I’m now living in Canada. The city where I live, Saint John, New Brunswick, has been rated as the happiest city in Canada. The lifestyle is fantastic. A longest commute of 20 minutes in peak traffic, minutes away from raw nature, deer in one’s backyard, at the coast — no wonder we’re a happy bunch.
I started building an online business in 2005. It’s been a steep and exciting learning curve. Started out by buying some pretty hyped-up (and worthless) e-books. Of course that didn’t work, because they were selling hard hats and shovels at the entrance of depleted gold mines.
In the process I’ve become a little smarter, and a little more skeptic.
My first focus was affiliate marketing, and I’ve built numerous niche sites, focused on advertising revenue and affiliate marketing income. Those sites are generating a very modest income — it’s a very tough environment.
It’s often said that one must do what you truly enjoy.
In 2007, I decided to do what I truly enjoy — developing software.
I taught myself PHP, and have developed several sites and installable products since. With it, my online revenue has also increased exponentially. Nothing beats making money while you’re having fun.
I have a passion for people, and usually tend to favor the underdog.
